This map shows a walking tour of three specific points of Griffith Park. The first the Griffith Park building itself. The reason I chose this park to create a map is because it is a historic land mark and also because it has a lot of history since its creation. In 1882 Colonel Griffith J. Griffith bought an are called rancho Los Feliz, after having claimed to be visited by the ghost of the previous owner the Colonel donated 3015 acres of this land to the city of Los Angeles in 1896. When he reached old age he began creating a trust fund in order to build attractions in the park that would bring many people to his property. After he passed many of the things he envisioned began to be built. This park is often referred to as the Los Angeles version of New York's central Park.
The second location on the map is the Griffith Observatory. This site is widely known because it is a place where many people go in order to see and learn about the solar system. On saturdays this site brings many astronomers who want to share their knowledge of the solar system with other people. Many people bring their microscopes and find planets in order for the viewer to see. Different planets are visible depending on the time of day and the day in the year, this is why many times they locate the sun. In many of these microscopes the sun spots are visible, as well as the flares that surround the sun. The observatory is located near the Hollywood sign and because of this many hikers pass the area. This area has attracted so many visitors that they renovated and expanded from 2002-2006. Now visitors can see the moon and its craters in one of their domes, they offer shows and field trips. They have created an establishment that Griffith envisioned that attracts many people.
The third location on the map is The Los Angeles Zoo which is located in the park in Zoo Drive. The reason I chose the zoo as one of the locations on the map is because it allows many people to see animals from different parts of the world without having to travel far. This includes a large variety of animals such as giraffes, monkeys and even reptiles. This site is widely visited by many people and it brings us knowledge on the different species that are located in different parts of the world. This park is so large that these three points are miles away from each other. This park is great to visit and is so large that you would probably need a couple of days to tour the whole park, but it is a great place to go.

Map of Central Los Angeles found on: http://tvvideobranding.com/media-targeting/central-los-angeles/

This is a map of Central Los Angeles that was found on the website for TV branding. Although it was found on this website I found it very interesting because it has a very detailed outline of what the city looks like in this area. This map shows an intricate view of the freeways that connect in this area and the cities that surround what is considered to be the center of Los Angeles. the only city that is highlighted in this map to be a part of the Central Los Angeles is Inglewood, however we see that there is a greater part of the city that is unnamed that also forms a part of this central region. This map also interested me because it shows the surrounding cities such as Long beach, Carson, East LA, Culver city and the beaches that surround these cities. This map is very detailed in the sense that it shows how each city connects to form a part of a county. For example all of Bell, Bell Gardens, Paramount, Bell Flower, Santa Fe Springs, La Mirada, and Lynwood come togetehr to form a part of the Downey/Lynwood county. the reason I chose this map was because i grew up in this area my whole life yet I did not know of the existence of many of these cities that are shown on this map. My Home was located in the central part of Los Angeles yet I have never taken the time to explore the cities that surround my home. This map allowed me to see what cities are located around the area I live in.
Map of Maui found on: http://www.aliiresorts.com/maui_map.htm

The second map i chose for this assignment is a map of Maui. This map shows the waters that surround the island of Maui and the area of the islands and the location of Maui in comparison to the US. According to the website Maui Islands are the second largest islands of the Hawaiian Islands and they also include the islands of Lanai, Kahoolawe, and Molokai. These four islands are known collectively by the name Maui Nui (nui is Hawaiian for large). Located in the island are some large national parks and there are various beaches that surround all coasts of the island. Although Maui is an island because it is surrounded by water it is fairly large as the name suggest (nui) The reason i chose the map of these Islands is because I would like to travel there some day to see the beaches and the wildlife that exist because when I think of an Island I think of a small place by the beach like what is portrayed on television instead of cities and forest like this map suggests.
Map Of Jalisco: found on: http://www.embassyworld.com/maps/Maps_Of_Mexico/

Jalisco is a state in Mexico where both my parents were born, this state is very known even in the US because it was one of the areas of the Spanish conquest over the Aztecs. This state has many cities and is very large. Although it is large it has many beautiful places to see and many tourist who visit. This map shows the many cities that are located in this state and the center Red Dot is the capital known as Guadalajara. As we can see Guadalajara is the main city in Jalisco and it holds the airport that many people fly into when visiting or going to business trips. What I also like about this Map is that it shows the surrounding states that are located by Jalisco. For example the other Red Dot there is on this map represents Colima which is another state where there is also an airport where people who live close to the coast can land to enter Jalisco. This map is interesting also because it shows the roads that connect the cities with a brown line, but also the rivers in blue lines that represent the water. Jalisco, Mexico is important to me because this is where my roots begin and I feel connected to this land. That is the reason i chose this map as well to show in this assignment.blogger.com
